In the pharmaceutical world, it is not uncommon for companies to merge to provide a stronger, more comprehensive service. This was the case when VIATRIS was formed from Mylan and UpJohn.

Objective

To ensure continuity for pharmacists, it was essential that the Viatris values, vision and products were communicated quickly, effectively and in a manner that was as smooth as possible and would be remembered clearly. It would also be beneficial to have clearly branded, useful, regularly used items and even to recycle previously branded items.

Solution

After consultation with key pharmacists, speciality items were developed including script trays, pill counters, foil cutters, microfibre towels and pharmacy injection trays.
The new eye-catching logo and colours for Viatris ensured that the items supplied stood out from all the existing competitors’ products. All five items are recyclable, made from recycled materials where possible and the injection dish included an antibacterial additive. In order to obtain the best quality for each of these items, they were sourced from different manufacturers in different parts of the world. This then created a situation where colours needed to be compared and the production and delivery of products coordinated. Other marketing items included printed materials, stationery items, bottles, bags and uniforms for the sales force.

Results

These practical items, developed by Viatris, demonstrated to the pharmacists the support and encouragement they could expect. These, along with enthusiastic reps, resulted in a very successful launch for Viatris and overwhelming positivity that far exceeded
expectations.
